- artfiend77, on 01/10/2009, -4/+55Jesus, Austria's Christmas is totally badass!
- TheJalu, on 01/10/2009, -0/+46Dugg for boston.com, The Big Picture and everything in one page.
- lintmonkey, on 01/10/2009, -1/+41Dear Santa,
I know I've been naughty. Please please PLEASE just give me coal and don't tell Krampus.
Yours truly,
Bobby - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -2/+38Dugg for crucified marathon Jesus amongst a sea of Santas
- somberlaine, on 01/09/2009, -6/+41amazing pictures.

- madcaps1980, on 01/10/2009, -1/+16Krampus is f**king scary!!
- TomFrost, on 01/10/2009, -0/+14It's a Christmas article.. what more do you want? Should private writers be forced to mention every holiday there is whenever they want to feature something having to do with Christmas?
If you wanted more year-end holiday articles from other religions.. submit them. Digg isn't "picking" Christmas as the official holiday of the website. - buddypriefert, on 01/10/2009, -1/+12Man, thanks all Diggers for not taking cheap shots at religion this one time.
So cool to see a tad bit of beauty and kindness on Digg. - kufurex, on 01/10/2009, -1/+10It's nice to see people just enjoying some good photographs without the thread degenerating into how everything having to do with religion and god is evil.
and it's funny how there is always someone who complains about other holidays not being included. What I don't understand is, why is everyone supposed to bend over backwards to make sure everyone's holiday is acknowledged. If you are Christian, then it's Christmas (not Hanukka or Kwanza or the pagan holiday that originally was celebrated on December 25th).
These were simply great pictures, much like many other collections from boston.com.
Just enjoy the pics people.
PS Anyone notice the lady in pic #4 (right side) all bundled up in a wet-suit/full body swimsuit? She must be cold. lol - Tweets, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9Imagine if the crying kid saw Krampus?
- giveer, on 01/10/2009, -3/+10Yes, but to quote Sienfeld: What's with the eyebrows?
- themastersb, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7All on 1 page.
- peters1023, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7Enjoy the pics. Don't be so butt hurt about nothing.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 01/10/2009, -2/+9Well... as part of the ongoing "war on ugliness", women have decided that the only acceptable facial fair is eyelashes. Unfortunately this decision has been disastrous for eyebrows. To the dismay of men and women everywhere, it turns out people just look crazy ***** weird without eyebrows. Luckily women have found a solution. You know all that paint women where putting on their faces this whole time?! As it turns out, this paint can also be used to paint lines right where the eyebrows used to be. You almost can't even tell the difference from far away... It's a Christmas miracle!!!
- Xanias, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7I love boston.com. This is how all image websites should be. Flickr is slow, has tiny pictures and is just incredibly annoying. Yay for boston.com.
- giveer, on 01/11/2009, -0/+6...and a partridge in a pear tree.
- RyanCoke, on 01/10/2009, -2/+7Between Krampus and Running Jesus, I pee'd a little.
I don't know which was worse. Being punished or knowing the son of God could outrun me with a cross on his back while bleeding.
I feel like such a chick. - Claverhouse, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5As much need as for you to touch your blow-up doll girlfriend; and for the same reason, it satisfies them.
- bmson, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5We have similar "creature" in Iceland called Grýla.
She's the mother of our 13 Yule Lads and has a man called Leppalúði.
Grýla takes kids that didn't get clothes during christmas and feed them to here cat called Jólakötturinn.

P.s.
Icelandic kids get 13 present from 13 different Yule Lads. Begining 12th of desember. - notadiggtard, on 01/11/2009, -0/+5Just beautiful! Thanks for submitting it!
- DreamSpirit3, on 01/10/2009, -1/+6A lot of people don't realize that their is more than just the mainstream style of Christmas practiced in Europe and the USA. Ive been to a couple Christmas festivals in Islamabad, Lahore, and Mumbai and they truly create a new dimension to the Christmas everyone thinks they know. There are so many diverse styles of celebrating Christmas all around the world.
- fxu1989, on 01/10/2009, -5/+9All religion aside, the pictures are amazing.
- thekronz, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5That picture of the Krampus scared the ***** out of me.
(From Wikipedia)
The word Krampus originates from the Old High German word for claw (Krampen). In the Alpine regions the Krampus is represented by an incubus demon in company of Saint Nicholas. Krampus acts as an anti-Saint Nicholas where instead of giving gifts to good children, he gives warnings and punishments to the bad children. Traditionally, young men dress up as the Krampus in the first two weeks of December, particularly in the evening of December 5, and roam the streets frightening children and women with rusty chains and bells. In some rural areas the tradition also includes slight birching by the Krampus, especially of young females.
So.. in America if you're bad you get coal. In Austria, you get the living ***** scared out of you and will scar you for life. - r1ptide64, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4amazing, as i've come to expect from boston.com
- rpieszak, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4http://cache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/bl ...
Awesome! - rexCo, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4Pic 5 needs to be wallpapered
- bmcnally, on 01/11/2009, -0/+4Very cool pictures. It was an interesting reminder that there are Christians in the Middle East, a group that is often overlooked due to the common stereotype of it only being Muslims and a couple of Jews.
Also enjoyed seeing some of the Orthodox celebrations. - billjimbob, on 01/10/2009, -0/+3I was expecting ***** based on the thumbnail. What I got was nowhere near as good, but still awesome. Dugg.
- FarFromSob3r, on 01/10/2009, -2/+5Holy crap damn Bulgarians are crazy mofo's.
Also, ****! Krampus! - MadOgre, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3Needs more Krampus.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -2/+5Oh ***** up about "holiday season".
- Mohammad786, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4Wow, Such lack of education.
You guys really want to compare statistics?
Hamas is 100% justified to use military force against Israel. Israel has been bombarding Gaza for far too long. They have cut of medical supplies to dying palestinians who are both MUSLIMS and CHRISTIANS.
They broke the ceasefire by bombarding Rafah crossing, then you guys have the nerve to ask why Hamas is lobbing 6000 rockets into Israel?
THINK, dont let someone else spoon feed you.
Think on your own for once, and look at FACTS, not fiction on FOX. - odeeee, on 01/10/2009, -2/+5@ Mohammad786 - I hope the kid is OK too. But for crying out loud, are you for real. why turn a decent picture show into a political event.
Read here for your so-called indiscriminate behavior.
http://digg.com/world_news/The_CNN_strategy_Hamas_ ...
Seems Hamas are extremely good at indiscriminate massacres, seeing as they hide behind boys like the kid in the photo. - Moloy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3blissful ignorance, christmas itself is a christian holiday, the winter festival that it combined with was a pagan holiday... secular?
- shadeOfGrey, on 01/11/2009, -1/+4Yes, along with "democracy" we're spreading the horrible trend of overplucked eyebrows.
- Daniellex3, on 07/23/2009, -0/+3Those were great photos. I have to admit the kids dressed as angels were kinda cute. ;P
- getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -2/+5Image 15 looks like Vic Mackey's wife from The Shield
- fadingsignal, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Dugg for the photos actually being decently sized. I'm incredibly tired of news images or galleries being in 320x240 or less.
- GalOnDigg, on 01/10/2009, -2/+4It's not Christmas season until I hear a toddler wailing on Santa's lap
- dieboldcracy, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2thank you for that. I get so cynical sometimes....well....maybe all the time....but that made my day
- hmunkey, on 01/11/2009, -1/+3Christmas hasn't been Christian since the US Government officially recognized it. It is now considered a secular holiday here.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -1/+3Ok just two things to say about this.
1) your camera has a wrist strap on it for a reason. Use it, especially around water and jostling crowds.
2) get your drums out of the water this instant or they're the last christmas presents you get. - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -2/+4Yes, you missed something. Try looking at the picture instead of the caption.
- bpwned, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Not really... it's quite fun. Once when you're a kid and you hide from him, and once when you're older and you get to be the Krampus yourself :P
- novenator, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2I'm more and more of a fan every time someone submits
- ousthouse, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1Very cool. The description says that those are bonfires. Why are the ones on the left more orange than the ones on the right? Is it because of distance?
- pushforpeace, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1Beautiful photos, I enjoyed all of them.
